Phillip & Shirley (Larlee)

Shirley Ethel Larlee - Born and raised in Conway, she was the daughter of Alvena and Donald Larlee. She married Philip Allard in 1945; they would have celebrated their 57th anniversary on September 22. Shirley and Phil had five daughters: Elaine, Susan, Nancy, Lynn and Jane.

Shirley was a fulltime mother and homemaker while her girls were young. She later worked for the Maine Extension Service providing assistance to 4-H programs. An active community leader, Shirley was a member of the PTA, a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H leader, and active in her Parish Council and 4-H Leaders Association.

After retirement, Shirley and Philip traveled extensively in the US, and particularly enjoyed Alaska and the Southwest. They wintered in Lady Lake, FL where they enjoyed swimming and an active social life.

Devoted to her family, Shirley facilitated frequent gatherings and reunions.

Phillip Fredrick Allan - Born and raised in Conway, he was the son of Walter and Lulu Allard. He graduated from Kennett High School in 1943.

Philip married Shirley Larlee, also of Conway, in 1945. They were married for 57 years. Early in their marriage they came to Dover and in 1959 moved to a farm in Berwick, Maine, where they raised their family of five daughters. Philip worked in the poultry industry, retiring in 1986.

A hard working and generous man, Phil was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed his family, his farm on Blackberry Hill Road in Berwick, traveling with Shirley, playing cards, especially cribbage, and spending time with his sister Molly Smith of Dover.

He moved to Lady Lake, Fla. permanently in 2008, where he lived near his daughter, Elaine. He had an outgoing, easy personality and will be missed by his large family and many friends.
